From time to time, problems can occur with the DJI Fly app. For example, the app no longer starts or simply crashes for inexplicable reasons. There can be several reasons for this. We provide you with the appropriate solutions to solve the problem.
If the DJI Fly app no longer starts, this is a pretty big problem. After all, the app is needed to control DJI drones. Fly app crashes are also annoying. So that you don’t have to deal with the problem for long, we have solutions for you here that usually fix the problem quickly.
DJI Fly app does not start – fix problems
Note: Since mid-September 2024, there have been increasing problems with starting the DJI Fly app on Android. In our experience, the problem can be solved by reinstalling the latest version(1.14.2) from the DJI website. See below, “Reinstall DJI Fly App”.
Solution 1: Is your smartphone compatible with the app?
If the DJI Fly app no longer works, it is important to check whether your smartphone is compatible with the app at all. You can find an official list of supported devices or Android and iOS versions on the DJI website. If your device is not compatible, the DJI Fly app may not open.
Solution 2: Check for updates
Most problems with the Fly app can be resolved by updating to the latest version. Occasionally, iOS or Android updates require adjustments to the app in order to resolve problems. DJI usually acts quickly to prevent widespread problems from occurring in the first place. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. You should therefore always check whether you have the latest version installed.
As an iOS user, you will normally be offered the latest version in the Apple App Store. So check here regularly to see if a new version is available and update promptly.
If you have an Android device, the app has not been available in the Google Play Store for a while. You have to download it manually. Once you have installed it from the official site, the app automatically checks for a new version every time you start it and provides you with a corresponding notification directly in the app.
If the DJI Fly app does not start, you will of course not be able to check for an update in the app on Android – logical. You must then follow the link above for manual installation and download the new version from the manufacturer’s website.
From time to time, the in-app update mechanism may not offer the latest version immediately. It is therefore worthwhile for Android users to take a look at the DJI website in case of problems and check whether a newer version than the one currently installed can be found there.
Solution 3: Reinstall DJI Fly App
Have you already installed the latest version but the DJI Fly App still won’t start? Then it often helps to reinstall the app. Uninstall the current version and download the app again as described above. Reinstall the app and check that everything works again.
On Android, you will receive security warnings when installing an app from a source other than the Play Store. This is normal and you can acknowledge the warning and install the app anyway if you have downloaded it from the official website. Details can be found in the linked article on installing the app.
Solution 4: Restart your smartphone
If the DJI Fly app crashes or does not start, it is sometimes sufficient to simply restart your smartphone. Sometimes a combination of uninstalling the DJI Fly app, restarting the smartphone and reinstalling it can also help.
Solution 5: Contact DJI support
If the above solutions do not work, you should contact DJI Support. The best way to do this is via the official English-language forum.
Where can I get the latest DJI Fly app version?
On iOS, the official App Store is still the number 1 source for the DJI Fly App. Since version 1.2.4 on Android, you have to go to the official DJI website. Current problems with the DJI Fly app
The problems with the DJI Fly app under Android 14 should have been resolved by now and the app should run properly again. Make sure that you have installed the latest version of the Fly app (at least v1.12.8).
