DJI has added the Enterprise and Thermal models to its Mavic 3 family, as announced, and officially launched them. The drone manufacturer is thus expanding its range for professional users beyond pure photo and video shooting. We summarize all the important details about features and target groups.

At the outset, it should be mentioned that DJI is targeting professional users with its Enterprise drone series, as it did with its predecessor, the Mavic 2. However, professional users do not mean photo and video professionals, but rather users who use drones for surveying, complex inspections or thermal imaging (rescuing people, searching for fawns, fighting fires, etc.).

Those who are primarily interested in taking spectacular photos and videos should stick with the previous Mavic 3 models or alternative drones.

We summarize the features and differences of the two enterprise models in the following paragraphs.

Common features of the Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T

There are many similarities between the two models. For example, they are built on a similar housing to the one used in the regular Mavic 3 family. In addition, both models have the option of being expanded via additional accessories on the top of the drone. For example, this enables centimeter-precise positioning via RTK module or the output of sound via a speaker. However, accessories must be purchased separately.

Both drones also have an increased flight time of up to 45 minutes, can be used with the DJI RC Pro Enterprise remote control and have the sensors known from the previous Mavic 3 models to detect obstacles on all sides and also automatically fly around them (APAS 5.0).

Other features shared by both drones that set them apart from the regular Mavic 3 models:

  • Local data Mode
  • One-Tap clear all device data
  • AES-256 video transmission encryption
  • Cloud API

However, there are differences in the cameras used.

Mavic 3E Features

The Mavic 3E features a wide-angle 4/3 CMOS, 20 MP camera and, what’s new, a mechanical shutter that eliminates motion blur and enables fast shooting at 0.7-second intervals. A mechanical shutter guarantees higher image quality, which can be especially crucial for accurate surveying.

In addition, the Mavic 3E also relies on a telephoto camera with an equivalent focal length of 162 mm, 12 MP and a 56× hybrid zoom. This is composed of a 7x mechanical and an 8x digital zoom.

The weight of the Mavic 3E is about 915g. The price for this model starts at 3.640€ and differs depending on the package chosen. Orders can be placed directly through the DJI Store.

Mavic 3T Features

The DJI Mavic 3T features the same telephoto camera as the Mavic 3E, a 48MP camera with a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor, as well as a thermal imaging camera with a display field of view (DFOV) of 61 degrees and an equivalent focal length of 40mm with a resolution of 640×512 pixels.

The drone’s thermal imaging camera supports spot and area temperature measurement, high-temperature alerts, color palettes and isotherms to help operators find hot spots so they can also make quick decisions. With simultaneous split-screen zoom, the Mavic 3T’s thermal imaging and zoom cameras support continuous 28x digital zoom and side-by-side display for easy comparisons.

The weight of the Mavic 3T is about 920g. The price of the thermal drone starts at 5.690€ and can also be ordered directly from DJI in different configurations.
