More Information
Official launch of the DJI Mini 4 pro

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is the direct successor to the Mini 3 Pro and replaces it after about 1.5 years now as the latest model of the Mini series. The most important feature is also in the 4th generation the weight of <249g to which the drone adheres. This, by the way, officially gives it the C0 mark according to EU drone regulations. DJI also remains true to itself visually. The Mini 4 Pro looks like a mixture of Mini 3 Pro as well as Air 3. It becomes exciting with the innovations of the 4 series.

The new obstacle sensors are clearly visible. For the first time in the series, the new Mini model has an obstacle detection system that recognizes obstacles in all directions. This had previously only been reserved for the larger models.

Thanks to these sensors, the new drone now also has APAS 5.0, which enables the drone to independently avoid obstacles in flight. This benefits the new ActiveTrack 360° in particular. This is an extension of the familiar ActiveTrack system, where you can now define your own routes using touch gestures, which are then flown automatically by the drone while tracking its target.

There are also slight improvements in the camera. Although the Mini 4 Pro also uses the familiar 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor that records at up to 48MP, it now has a new image signal processor that allows 4K recordings at up to 100fps. This is especially interesting for slow-motion recordings. Other features of the camera include HDR video at up to 60fps as well as 10bit DLog-M recording and, of course, the option to tilt the camera 90° for vertical recording. These are especially interesting for direct sharing on social media.

Also worth mentioning is the addition of O4 (OcuSync 4) to the Mini series. This means that the Mini 4 Pro now also has the latest video transmission system from DJI, with which the live camera image is transmitted even sharper and faster to your remote control.

Speaking of remote control. The DJI Mini 4 Pro now also gets support for the new variants of its two popular remote controls introduced with the Air 3: the DJI RC2 (with integrated display) and the DJI RC-N2 (standard model without display).

Last but not least, the Mini 4 Pro now also has a true waypoint function. This allows you to define routes in advance, which are then automatically flown by the Mini 4 Pro. A real game changer in the field of mini drones!

Flight time and flight speed

DJI specifies the maximum flight time as up to 34 minutes. This means that the Mini 4 Pro lasts just as long as its predecessor. Which is perfectly fine, since the drone delivers the better technical data and retains its weight.

There is also no change in the maximum flight speed: 16 m/s, which is equivalent to 58 km/h, is the maximum of the Mini 4 Pro.

Flight altitude and range

The maximum flight altitude is 4,000m, and DJI specifies the maximum range as up to 20km. However, you will not normally get to these values without applying for appropriate exemptions from the valid regulations of the EU Drone Regulation.

Internal memory of the DJI Mini 4 Pro

The internal memory of the DJI Mini 4 Pro increases only minimally compared to its predecessor. This again turns out to be very small with around 2GB. So even with the current Mini generation, you can’t get around a suitable SD memory card if you want to get serious about shooting.

All further information about the technical specifications as well as the flight and recording modes can be found on the official product page of the Mini 4 Pro.

App

The DJI Fly app is also necessary for controlling the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The app has been the standard solution for new DJI drones since the first Mini generation.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery of the DJI Mini 4 Pro differs depending on the selected package. You can choose from the three options described above.

The drone itself is identical in all packages. The first two packages differ in the included remote control. The third package, the well-known Fly More variant, contains the RC 2 remote control as well as additional accessories. These include additional batteries (three in total), a battery charging station, and a shoulder bag.

Summary

So what can you say about the DJI Mini 4 Pro? Once again, DJI delivers and raises the bar for mini drones another notch. Omnidirectional obstacle detection, waypoint function, 4K recording at up to 100fps, and DJI’s signature improved flight and recording modes make the Mini 4 Pro arguably the best drone under 250g.

Once again, however, the price also stands out. The Mini 4 Pro isn’t exactly cheap either, and is already very close to the border of larger models like the DJI Air 3. In addition, DJI is adding some features to the Mini line that were previously reserved for larger models. In the end, besides the wallet, the desire or need for a drone below 250g is certainly the deciding factor. And there is currently nothing better than the Mini 4 Pro.
