A possible new model in the DJI Mini series is now slowly but surely becoming the focus of the rumour mill: the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The first photos are now doing the rounds and offer room for speculation.

No sooner has DJI released its Air 3 drone than new rumours are emerging for another model. This time there will be an upgrade within the very popular Mini series and with the DJI Mini 4 another model will follow. What can we expect from the next drone weighing less than 249g?

First photos of the DJI Mini 4 Pro

Not much is known yet. However, the first photos already allow speculation about the equipment of the possible successor model. They were published by the well-known accounts @JasperEllens and @Quadro_News.

Both photos are probably one and the same image, but slightly cropped and mirrored.

Here you can see a small drone in the typical DJI design. The drone has a camera and clearly visible sensors on the front. These now give reason to believe that DJI could further upgrade the obstacle detection system of the Mini series. The sensors are slightly angled compared to the Mini 3, indicating changes to the system that could lead to the drone being able to detect obstacles from the side. The previous Mini 3 Pro only detects obstacles in the front, back and bottom. An omnidirectional system in a Mini drone would be a huge step forward.

The camera seems to remain the same at first glance and is likely to use a 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with 48MP. No other changes or improvements are visible for the time being.

Mini 4 Pro as early as 2023?

Since the photos already show a production-ready model and obviously not a prototype, it is very likely that DJI could launch the new Mini 4 Pro this year. When exactly, however, is still an open question. We don’t expect DJI to unveil the Mini 4 anytime soon, as the release would be too close to the just released DJI Air 3. A realistic date could be in November or December. Just like the Mini 3 was released in December.

We will keep you updated on this topic. What is your opinion on the leaked photo so far? What would you like to see in a Mini 4 drone? Feel free to write us in the forum below this message.
